What I Wore – For the Love of Plaid
I love plaid. Last fall I picked up a this awesome plaid shirt. I had been looking for a plaid shirt for a LONG time, but I wasn't interested in a tiny shrunken style shirt - they didn't fit usually fit, were too short, and gaped. In the end I found this awesome orange and navy shirt (with gingham white and navy inside the collar and sleeves) in the Men's Wear department at Winners. Yep, the men's department. The only way you can tell is the buttons are on the other side.
The shirt also fits my desire to buy fewer clothes. For me to buy something I really need to love it AND it needs to work for both casual and business. I don't have room in my life for clothes that can't do double duty.
And this plaid shirt has been a great choice. I have worn it consistently through all seasons since. Including at the beach over a bathing suit on a camping trip.
This was a look for work, layered over a tank top, with a jean jacket and a pencil skirt, and finished with Fluevogs (of course).
I didn't think the image caught the colour of the day (or the plaid) so I added a filter.
And a closer look to show the gingham details. And my hair to the side to show how much it has grown.
And here is the same shirt worn, for a weekend visit to Victoria, layered under an orange sweater, with jeans and my weekend standard footwear Blundstones... and a few wrinkles for effect.
I am going to blame the wrinkles on my attention being elsewhere. As my brother was showing my son and I a little archery. I look awesome. My aim... not so much.
I love the length and the details of this shirt. But mostly I LOVE the colour. Nobody said buying less things meant I had to buy boring things.
