G is for Girlfriends
Last month I attended the awesome and inspiring G is for Goddess event hosted by the lovely Suzanne Siemens and Madeleine Shaw of LunaPads. The event was also a far too rare night out with a girlfriend. I will have more to say about the thoughts inspired by the fantastically funny and honest speaker Taryn Brumfitt in another post. For now I want to talk about the energy from a room of women and a good friend who just "gets" you. IT ROCKS!
After a busy, extended by a school strike, summer I really needed an energy re-boost. And there is nothing like catching up, laughing, talking and not talking with a good friend to give you that boost you need. A night out with my friend Gwen (aka LeftCoastMama) usually fits the bill.
I think this picture of my friend Gwen and I really shows the positive energy and happiness that good friendship brings.
It is the kind of energy that even shows in black and white.
By the way, after a writing hiatus, Gwen is blogging again at Left Coast Mama for NaBloPoMo. Be sure to give her a visit.
Since this is a style blog, I should probably describe what I wore. The theme of the event was Red Tent. I wasn't in a red dress kind of mood. So I wore this lovely warm navy blue dress from Kiyonna and added some fun red punch in my lipstick and accessories.
- Dress: Kiyonna
- Shoes: Nine West
- Necklace: Winners
- Cuff: DConstruct
- Pin (worn at waist): Lovely store in Gastown whose name I forget
- Purse: Gift
Finally, a night with a good friend usually brings a lot of laughing. So I wore a little extra "middle age laugh" protection with some Dear Kate underwear from Lunapads.
Tonight I am off to another event with Gwen hosted by Fluevog. It could be dangerous. Might have to leave my credit card at home.
