As a Canadian this is the time of year that I start to look south -- more like dream of -- for a hot weather getaway. Alas, it isn't in the cards for me this year. But I can dream of what I would pack for such a trip. And the older I get the more I want to pack less. I have been hunting for a new convertible dress that I could throw into a bag and wear a multitude of ways in a hot balmy climate. And something I would also want to wear at home.

I recently discovered Henkaa, a Canadian company, who makes a fantastic selection of convertible dresses. They have a convertible dress for almost every woman. Sizes range from 0 - 24 and they have three lengths - mini, midi or maxi. The ones above all are maxi. The mini is too short for me. But might make a nice tunic top. The midi is a lovely knee length option, while the maxi is exactly as described.

Henkaa has been proudly made in Canada since our humble beginnings and it is our intention to keep it that way. By manufacturing at home, we've been able to keep a close eye on quality, maintain lower inventory levels, increase speed to market and most importantly, support our local economy!  Joanna, Henkaa Founder.

Even when you aren't travelling a convertible dress can fit several holes in your closet. I am working on less items that can do more jobs in my closet these days. I have lots of Little Black Dresses in my closet, so it would be nice to add some colours. And the Henkaa dresses come in lots of colours.

To help select your colour, you can order sample swatches so you can see/feel the fabric before you order online. The swatch bundles are $5, with free shipping and a $5 coupon you can use towards your dress when you order. This is nice for people like me that like to see/feel before they buy. This is also helpful for women who might be looking to match a particular colour. It takes away some of the risk of buying online.

My favourite style - this off the shoulder style called Victoria, made with the midi length dress. The problem is I don't know which colour I like best. Too many to pick from... teal, orange, purple... But I think ordering one is several colours might be against the point.

This video shows 21 ways to wear this dress in 5 minutes.

Henkaa is available online and has a retail location in Toronto. I think I might have to send my girlfriend, who I consider the Queen of Convertible dressing, down to take one of these dresses for a test drive.

Disclaimer: Henkaa kindly sent me the swatches so I could see their colours and fabrics. I received no compensation and, as usual, all opinions are my own.
