Over the holidays we attended a 90th Birthday Party for my husband's grandfather.  The party was on our long road trip to Calgary, AB for Christmas and Kimberly, BC for New Years (and some skiing). So I needed to pack rather efficiently for a lot of different types of events.   And the Birthday Luncheon was being held at a church, so I had to keep it appropriate for the venue.

What I wore Opa's party

I decided to build the outfit around a sleeveless, stretchy, cowl neck black InWear dress (I've worn it previously here).  It is easy to pack (without wrinkling) and it also worked as a tunic for other days on the trip.  I wore it to the party with my leopard print Ann Taylor cardigan.  And then added a bit of pizzazz with the striped tights.  While I was mixing a couple of pretty bold prints I think it worked because I kept the colour palette simple and the prints were separated.  For accessories I wore a black necklace from Hawaii, black Danier Leather belt, black Addition Elle cocktail ring, grey/black fluevogs and a spot of colour with this red leather clutch my step mother got for me in Italy.

My growing grey streak also worked nicely with the colour scheme.

I really liked this outfit. Which was a good thing because we ended up doing family photos that day.

After the Celebration we had a small After Party at my Father-in-law's house.  As I was going to be chasing after my son (and his 4 spirited cousins) I adjusted my outift. I removed my accessories, and put on my skinny Levi's with sparkly Toms.

I am participating in Patty's Not Dead Yet Style's Visible Monday.  Be sure to pop over there to see all the wonderful outfit pictures.
