Christmas Came Early
Christmas Came Early with the arrival of the Christmas present from my Mom, a new motorcycle jacket from Danier Leather.
I have coveted this jacket for months. When my Mom came to visit over US Thanksgiving we popped into Danier Leather on our way to the movies to check it out. Alas they did not have that style in-store. The sales person informed me that it could be ordered online. At this point my annoyance started to come up. I tend to be an in-person shopper and really hate it when I am standing in a store wanting to spend money and they refer me to the website. This usually means I walk into a different store (often their competition) and spend my money there, versus going home and ordering one online.
Then the sales person surprised me. She said, "why don't you try some similar styles on, to assess sizing, then we can order the jacket for you." She explained the return policy and noted that it would be delivered to my house without any shipping costs. WIN!! I tried on several similar jackets to find my size (and understand where the jacket sat on my hip), then we ordered and my mother paid for it (Christmas gift win). We left the store without any heavy bags to take with us to the movies. The jacket arrived several days later and fit perfect. Thank you Mom for a perfect Christmas gift!!
This is also a win because it was a gift I kept to my Nothing New November commitment and did not buy anything new for myself in November. Or until December 14th for that matter (when I purchased something on behalf of my husband for my stocking). More on that after Christmas.
