40+ at the Emmys Red Carpet 2013
I have to admit I wasn't sure if I was more excited about Neil Patrick Harris hosting or the Emmys red carpet fashions this year. In the end neither disappointed.
The trends on the Emmy Red Carpet mirrored what we have been seeing on the red carpet for fall and next spring - cutaways, black and white, pale pink, lace, jewel tones, yellow, metallic, etc.
Lets start with the black and white of the evening...
Just like the runway there were the dresses with unique cut-outs, each giving a different slice of skin.
I will admit I find pale pink a hard colour to pull off. Especially on a red carpet where you could risk sort of disappearing. That wasn't the case for either of these dresses.
Metallics and texture appear to be big for fall and helped create a stunning effect on these two ladies.
There was a lot of lace and sheer on the red carpet, but I was more taken with the rich jewel tones.
There is usually at least one woman in a category of her own. And this is often Sofia Vergara. In this bold red curve hugging gown. She was my clear favourite of the night.
Conveniently Neil Patrick Harris turned 40 this year, so could have easily taken the eye candy award. But alas, nobody could surpass Scott Bakula in my books - even a singing and dancing Nathan Fillion.

And just for fun... I loved this shot of Julie Bowen.
