The British Academy of Film and Television Arts had their big Movies Awards tonight.   Perhaps it was the rainy weather, but the red carpet lacked a certain amount of glam.  Maybe it was because Naomi Watts wasn't in attendance.   The 40+ crowd at the BAFTAs wore a lot of black and white, with only a few pops of colour.  But it was pink that was the big story.

My Favourites

Helen Mirren went pink for the occassion.

And her dress was lovely as well.   Not as bold as she has worn in the past. But when your hair is pink you keep the rest a bit low key - unless of course you are Pink.  Then there are apparently very few rules.

I rarely see Sarah Silverman on the red carpet.  And she went big here - big hair.  And it worked for her. I thought she looked lovely.

I normally don't like the sheer skirt trend. But Thandie Newton makes this lace gown work. I also really loved her hair.

I also thought Sally Field looked lovely. And I liked the jumpsuit that Sarah Jessica Parker wore, but she needs to learn how to pose in pants.

The Disappointments

Caroline Flack, who is an English TV presenter, looked like she was attending an after BAFTA party, not the actual awards in this black dress.

And I will admit being disappointed with this black and white dress on Jennier Garner. I just did not think this was a fabulous choice for her.

Someone who did not disappoint tonight was Helena Bonham Carter. She looked Helena, but the fur wrap just made her seem more elegant.

The Couples

Helen McCrory and Damian Lewis were my favourite couple.

But George and Ben came a close 2nd.

Oh and Hugh Jackman looked great in this long black jacket, with his wife Deborra in black as usual. But check out those fab platform shoes.

Eye Candy

The eye candy award goes to Javier Bardem - looking nothing like his James Bond character.

The Grammy Awards were also held tonight. I will have my recap of that red carpet in the morning.
