I expect to be missing in action for the next week or so.  I am in the final days of organizing a fantastic cycling event for Pancreatic Cancer Research, and expect it to be pretty hectic.  Every year I have every intention to try to pre-schedule some posts for this time, but somehow never do.

I love working on this event for my client for several reasons:

  • 100% of the money raised goes to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at the BC Cancer Foundation.
  • Pancreatic cancer is a deadly cancer with a 5% survival rate after 5 years.  One of the reasons for this is that it is very hard to detect in the early stages.  And research will help find ways for earlier detection which will save future lives.
  • My grandmother died from pancreatic cancer.
  • I love watching about 500 cycling enthusiasts tackle the climb up Cypress and still have fun!

If you would like to help, and don't feel like cycling up Cypress Mountain, you can find my personal fundraising page here. Every dollar goes to BC Cancer Foundation for life saving research at the BC Cancer Agency.

I expect to be back in full blogging form after the 18th.

Update: I am very proud of the results of all my work on the event this year, which raised $150,000 for pancreatic cancer research.   This is the 3rd year in a row that the event has increased its fundraising.  So gratifying to help this little event grow into a must attend cycling event each season.
