I'm going to attempt a theme this week and feature a number of great fall items from local Vancouver designers.

I know everyone else has been talking fall trends for weeks already. While September might be back-to-school, I don't really start pulling out my fall/winter wardrobe until after Thanksgiving.   And then there was that week of sun. So here we are in late October and I am finally really thinking about fall.

Chunky knit sweaters are a big theme for fall this year.  I love big knit sweaters.  I want to snuggle in one with a cup of tea in front of a fire.  Unfortunately as a woman with curves chunky knit sweaters don't always agree with me.  That is why I love the handmade luxurious knits from Cecile Benac.  While the designer Cecilia Rebagliati follows the fashion trends for colour and shape, her vision is to create beautiful designs that fit superbly and can be worn for years to come.  And my regular followers know I love something that can be in my closet for the next 10 years.

The knits are made with featherweight loopy mohair, tie-dyed ribbon yarn and washable linen among them - imported from France, Italy and Spain. Handknitted and hand-assembled in Vancouver.

I first saw her designs at The Fashion Capsule's open house in September. They are so soft you want to sleep in them.  They make unique statements - while showing off your figure and not hiding it under bulk.

Grey poncho/wrap

Is it a wrap or a scarf or both?

Black and grey vest

Deep red cardigan

Red Wrap

I really want to add one of these to my closet - I think it might be the black/grey vest, but then again the reds are fantastic.  Okay I really just can't make up my mind which one I love the best.    Are loving chunky knit sweaters this year?
