I was only able to attend one night of the Vancouver Eco Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 shows.  But I was excited that the evening included one of my favourite local designers Margarita Angelatos.  Margarita designs two lines Red Jade and Peridot Kiss.   And once again she didn't disappoint.

The Red Jade's Fall Winter 2011 line was a simple contemporary line, with a greys and blacks mixed with a lovely soft blue.  And all paired with heal-less The LA Fluevog boots.  When I asked Margarita to describe the Red Jade line she defined it as her sophisticated, feminine line with a little bit of an edge.

The Peridot Kiss line is a little bit more relaxed.   It fits my personal style more of her two lines.  Margarita defines it as her eco-chic, on-the-go line.  Her fall line had just a bit of 1980s flavour, with its  sleeve shapes and colour blocking.  She added some great bright pinks, blue and purples to the season. To, in her words, add something bright and fun for the rainy Vancouver fall.

Margarita works a lot with hemp, which requires no pesticides or chemicals to grow or make the fabric.  The yarn comes from China, but her dying and manufacturing are done locally.  This allows her to control the process and know her labour are being treated fairly and working under healthy conditions.

I find the Peridot Kiss line  easy to wear.  Easy to mix with other items in your closet. Easy to dress up and down.  Easy to look chic.  This is especially helpful for a busy mom.    I bought a beautiful black Fall/Winter 2010 black sweater that works as a dress in a snap. I wore to the Eco Fashion Week shows.  I wear it most places actually.

The Peridot Kiss & Red Jade spring/summer lines will be in stores soon.   The Peridot Kiss spring line is full of colours and contemporary lines. Here are some of my favourite pieces, shown at Eco Fashion Week Vancouver Spring/Summer 2011.
